Charles Tyler Jackson, Jr., 92, of Maitland, FL. died July 15, 2018. "Tyler" Jackson, son of Charles Tyler and Mary Louise Payne Jackson, and loving husband of his late wife Phyllis Harber Jackson, passed away peacefully on July 15 of natural causes at his home in Maitland, FL after a long struggle with MS. He is survived by his daughter Mary Dew Jackson Hornsby, son-in-law Daniel Boyd Hornsby, son Charles Tyler Jackson, III (Chuck), daughter-in-law Laura Lee Jackson, and three grandchildren, Morgan Renee, Tyler Douglas, and Evan Charles.
Born in Beaufort, SC and raised in Pahokee, FL, Tyler was a WWII Naval officer and Georgia Tech graduate in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his working career as an electrical engineer at Lockheed Martin and helped design the guidance systems on the early missiles and night vision for helicopters until his retirement in the 1980s. He was a member of the Anglican Church of the Incarnation, sang in the choir, was one of the leaders of the "Monday Night" meetings that took place at the Church of the Good Shepherd, and either lead or participated in many Bible studies. He also loved fishing in his earlier years, and continued enjoying classical music and reading throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held on Sunday, July 29th, 3:30pm at the First Covenant Church of Winter Park, 1720 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL.
