Charles R. "Chuck" Rainey, Winter Springs FL, age 84, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
He was born in Wheelwright KY in 1936. He moved to Florida with family in the 1950s, attending Orange County schools, and graduated from Winter Park High School Class of 1954. He later graduated from Florida State University in 1958 and received his Master's Degree from Florida Technological University (now UCF) in 1972.
His career began in the aerospace industry at Cape Kennedy. He later found his passion in education. He taught Math in the beginning years and in later years taught Computer sciences/programming at Lake Howell High School in Seminole County. He also taught computer classes as an adjunct professor at Seminole Community College (now Seminole State College). Many of his students throughout the years kept in touch, or if they saw him out of class or after he began his retirement, loved to stop and tell him of his impact on them.
He loved all sports but loved his tennis most. He spent many years playing tennis at Red Bug Lake Park courts with friends that became family in Margie's Group. Chuck enjoyed many trips to the beach, mountains, and historic towns like Fernandina Beach, Charleston, & Savannah. Of Course he loved his FSU Seminoles.
He was predeceased by his Mother Ollie Whitley, Father, John Morgan Rainey, Step-Dad Douglas Whitley, and Son Gary Rainey.
He leaves behind loving wife of 25 years, Bobby Clark Hubbard Rainey, and Step-Son Byron Hubbard (Cindy Curtis). He also leaves behind his children by first wife, Betty Rainey, the following: his Son Charles Rainey, Jr., Son Randall Rainey, & Daughter Rebecca Rainey Ward (John). He also leaves behind Half-Brother Ron Rainey, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren & other family.
