Obituary

Charles T. Barkman (Charlie), age 54, of Altamonte Springs, FL, entered eternal rest on January 10, 2021, in Orlando, FL.

Beloved husband of 20 years to Pamela (Pam) (nee McCormick). Devoted son of Sa-ngeeum and the late W. Frank Barkman. Loving brother of Wandee Barkman Diaz (Izzy) and Mali Bartlett (Josh) and brother-in-law of Jill Jones (Gary) and Jeff McCormick (Sheila). Cherished uncle of Christopher (Rebecca) and Kelly Jones, Sara (Kevin Moeller) McCormick, Emma (Joe) Rabel, Julia and Jacob Storrs and Marlena Bartlett. Nephew, cousin, friend, and fraternity brother of many.

Charlie loved dogs throughout his life and Pam and he particularly loved their miniature schnauzers, Barkley and Clancy (both deceased), and their current miniature schnauzers, Rudi and Baxter.

Charlie was born in 1966 in Korat, Thailand, and moved to Miami, FL, in 1973 when his father was discharged from the Air Force. Charlie was a proud graduate of Miami Sunset Senior High School and the University of Miami (It's all about the "U"), both where he developed life-long friendships. Charlie was an ardent supporter of many sports teams (high school, college and professional) over the years through his own schools and those of his nieces & nephews, and the Miami Dolphins. And once Pam came into his life, he quickly became a sports fan of all the Cleveland teams.

Charlie's professional life was spent in the Information Technology industry. He began his career upon graduation from the University of Miami with a B.S., Electrical Engineering, at GM in Michigan. After a year, he moved back to Florida where he began a career with AT&T for over 14 years, during which time he earned his MA in Computer Resource Management. From there, he worked briefly at IBM supporting several clients. Charlie then joined Akimeka's IT department as a Sr. Systems Engineer/Analyst. In 2006, he became the Director of IT Services for the Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies/Ke`aki Technologies.

Always one to stay busy, Charlie was the family "IT" guy who owned every gadget, enjoyed photography, plus all genres of music attending many concerts with Pam and family and friends. Adding to his hobbies, Charlie also recently acquired his Amateur Radio License and a barbeque smoker and enjoyed using both. Charlie and Pam enjoyed traveling around the country over the years to visit family and friends and accompany Pam at several Alpha Xi Delta Conventions and Alpha Xi Delta Foundation meetings. Charlie was also a member of Delta Chi Fraternity – Florida State Chapter.

Charlie is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. He will be greatly missed.
