Obituary

Charles Wesley Andersen completed his life's journey at home with peace and grace on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, surrounded by his loving wife, devoted children, and close family. Wes fought a long courageous battle with cancer. He was 55.

Wes was born in 1965, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where he met the love of his life, Emily Ives Webb, and developed friendships with many lifelong friends. He went on to earn degrees in Architecture and Business Management.

In 1986, Wes married Emily, his high school sweetheart, who, in his words, became his other half. Thereafter, they welcomed son Spenser Wesley Andersen in 1990 and daughter Katherine Webb Andersen in 1994. Wes was excited for Spenser and Kate to join him and Emily for a lifetime of adventures. As an enthusiastic traveler, he never stopped planning the adventures they all would have together. Wes's travels took him to over 70 countries around the world. He took great enjoyment in planning their many extensive family vacations to destinations like Russia, China, Thailand, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, among others. These unforgettable trips will provide beautiful memories to carry on forever.

In addition to the devotion to his family, Wes had many passions, one of which was his love for Arsenal Football Club and going to watch them play as much as possible. Wes's love for music was like no other. He admired singers and songwriters most. In his words, "It's the music and instruments used, and it's the lyrics and story they tell." He expressed that love through his participation in the choir, followed by numerous plays and musicals at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. Wes's architectural passion gave him the ability to see the beauty in any work of art.

Wes was the consummate entertainer. All who knew him could expect he'd be holding court at parties by telling lively stories, cracking jokes, acting as the designated DJ, or concocting interesting cocktails as the bartender at the "Wee Pub." In more recent years, you would find Wes in his forever home surrounded by his family and his Rottweiler Whiskey, while engaging in trivia and listening to his legendary playlists.

Wes was an owner of American Hospital Supply, along with his brother Donald. Wes worked hard to grow the company over the years, developing close relationships with his many business associates. Wes was very proud to have his son Spenser follow in his footsteps and carry on this legacy.

In addition to Emily, Spenser, and Kate, Wes is survived by his father and mother, Bruce Andersen and Sally Andersen, his brothers Donald (Rosie) Andersen and Todd (Heidi) Andersen, and his sister Karolyn (Randy) Couch, as well as many nieces and nephews.
