Obituary

Cecilia Liguori was a shining light and touched lives in a positive and loving way for 95 years.
She had a passion for life and helping others.

Her time on this earth ended peacefully on the evening of March 8, 2021, surrounded by the loving care of her devoted children, in Lake Mary, Florida.

Cecilia was born on February 21, 1926, in Snow Shoe, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Friedrick and Wilhemina (Shikalla) Rasdorf, Sr., one of six children: Fred Rasdorf (deceased), Oscar Rasdorf (deceased), Violet Rasdorf Tatz, Lillian Rasdorf Ambill (deceased) and Lorraine Rasdorf Michaels.

She spent her childhood on the farm, enjoying country life, sharing chores with her siblings, and attending school and church services nearby.

Cecilia earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana State Teacher's College in Indiana, Pa., and earned her Master's Degree in Business Education at the University of Pittsburgh. Her teaching career started at Belle Vernon High School, south of Pittsburgh, Pa.; she then taught at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she also served as a College Counselor.

She met Frank Liguori while attending a business fraternity function at the University of Pittsburgh. For Dad, it was "love at first sight."

Frank was a Professor at the University of Cincinnati and later became the Dean of Business Administration, and a Professor at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. The family moved from Cincinnati to Brecksville, Ohio, where Cecilia and Frank provided a solid and loving Foundation for Jim, Ann, Jean and Dan's childhood.

Cecilia married Frank Edward Liguori (deceased) of McKees Rocks, Pa., on August 9, 1958. They had four children: Jim Liguori (deceased), Ann Liguori, Jean Liguori Skidgel and Daniel Liguori. As soon as Dan was in school, full-time, Cecilia went back to work and was a Professor at Cuyahoga Community College at the Parma, Ohio campus.

Frank passed away from cancer in 1980. Cecilia lost her eldest child, Jim, to leukemia in 1982.

Daughter Ann divides her time between Westhampton, N.Y. and Orlando, Florida, and is a Sports Broadcaster and Journalist. Daughter Jean and her husband Steve Skidgel live in Cocoa Beach, Florida, and are the parents to Cecilia's two grandchildren. Cecilia's son, Daniel, lives in Tampa, Florida. He is a Professor of Communication at Seminole State College, and a professional musician.

Cecilia's two grandchildren are Madison Ann Skidgel, who lives in Tampa, Florida, and is a Registered Nurse at Tampa General Hospital, and Christian James Skidgel, who is in the Hospitality Business in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Cecilia was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Godmother and Friend. Overcoming many obstacles, Cecilia was truly ahead of her time as a career woman and mother. She inspired so many, young and old, male and female, to pursue their dreams, with hard work, commitment and enthusiasm.

She was a woman of character, integrity, honesty, grace, class, and love, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.

Cecilia enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, sports, shopping, and cooking. Mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her children and traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe with them.

The family was honored to have cared for Cecilia in her later years and immensely enjoyed including her in every aspect of their lives. Their hearts are broken but they are eternally grateful to have had Cecilia in their lives for as long as they did.

These words are from a card that Cecilia sent daughter Ann years ago. It was written by Brenda Hager:

"Strong women are those who know the road ahead will be strewn with obstacles, but they still choose to walk it because it's the right one for them...
Strong women face the daily trials of life, sometimes with a tear, but always with their heads held high as the new day dawns."
