Catherine (Walker) Rose, 59, was received into heaven on September 5, 2016 from her home in Longwood, Florida.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 10:45 a.m. with both being held at the Wekiva Presbyterian Church, 211 Wekiva Springs Lane, Longwood, Florida 32779.
Cathy was born July 29, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Earle and Lucille (Allen) Walker. On August 2, 1986 she married Jeffery L. Rose at the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of the University of Tulsa and began her business career as a computer programmer for what was then Southwestern Bell Telephone in St. Louis, Missouri. She later joined AT&T as a business systems analyst in Morris Plains, New Jersey where she met her future husband Jeff. Still with AT&T, Cathy transferred to Orlando, Florida in 1982 and retired from AT&T in 2006. Not one to remain inactive for long, she worked as a contract business analyst for several companies until she accepted a position with FiServ in 2008 where she remained until her death.
As a mother, Cathy enjoyed supporting her children in their academic and extracurricular activities. She coached her daughter's (Jillian) youth soccer team for several years and always volunteered as team mom for her son's (Kyle) baseball teams. Cathy was very active in both Boy and Girl Scouts helping Kyle achieve Eagle rank and Jillian the Girl Scout equivalent Gold Award. She has remained active in Boy Scout Troop 237 serving as the Committee Chair.
Preceding Catherine in death was her parents Earle and Lucille Walker and her sister Patricia Simpson. She is survived by her husband Jeff and children Kyle Rose of Atlanta, Georgia and Jillian Rose of Longwood, Florida, sister Carol Sue (Richard Sr.) Manley, and nephew Richard (Kathy) Manley Jr.
