Catherine B. Devito, 83, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on May 28th, 2022.

Cathy was born on June 25, 1938 to Charles and Lillian Meagher in Oxford, Massachusetts, the oldest of eight children in the family. She attended Bartlett High School, and after graduation in 1956, moved with her family to Pass a Grill Beach, Florida. She met Jim soon after and on June 24, 1961 they were married at St John's Church by Monsignor Patrick Trainor. After brief stops in Tallahassee, Gainesville, and the south side of St Petersburg, they found their way back to St Pete Beach in 1975, where they raised their two sons off of 59th Avenue, on Balao Way.


Cathy was an active person that enjoyed playing tennis, running on the beach, and golfing with her friends. She loved spending time with her family and her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren. Cathy received a double lung transplant in 2010 at Tampa General Hospital. She was forever grateful to the donor and family for giving her the opportunity to extend her life and realize her dream of seeing her grandchildren graduate from high school and attend college.

Cathy leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years Jim; their sons James and Michael; their daughters in-law Patti and Denise; and their grandchildren Adele (23), Gianna (21), and Mateo (20). She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Alice, Charlotte, Bill, Richard, Jim, and Mary and many nieces and nephews. Cathy was predeceased by her sister Rita.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday June 2nd at 1PM St John's Church at 445 82nd Ave, St Pete Beach. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 5233 118th Ave N., Clearwater.
