Carmen V. Mera, 77, of Orlando, died on October 22, 2016 in Orlando, FL. She was born on August 29, 1939 in Ecuador, to Eduardo Mera and Luz Gomez.
Survivors include her daughters, Lupe (Jose E.) Prieto of Merritt Island, FL, Carmen Soto (Manuel F.) Castellanos of Orlando, FL. and Lucy Soto (Kevin W.) Clowney of Oviedo, FL,; her grandchildren Carlos, Evita, Jeremy, Maria, Yvana, Manuel, Gloria, Jose, Keith, Gina and Maria Jose; her great grandchildren: Jose Javier, Isaac Manuel, Carmen Sofia, Jade Danielle, Manuel Mathias and Ricardo Giovanni. She is also survived by three brothers, Luis, Jose and Angel, four sisters: Clementina, Manuela, Violeta and Piedad and many nephews and nieces, all of Ecuador.
Her parents, two sisters and a son, Jose Daniel Soto preceded her in death.
Carmen was a long time resident of Central Florida since leaving her home country, Ecuador at the age of 48 . She attended a trade school in Ecuador and became a seamstress in 1956. She was employed for 12 yrs. at World Disney World and retired in 2012. She loved to sew and enjoyed watching Spanish shows especially telenovelas, playing cards and word games on her iPad. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
The visitation is from 5:30 until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the DeGusipe Funeral Home. Prayer service will follow at 7:00 to 7:30 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016, Reception to follow at 7:30 to 8:00 PM also at the DeGusipe Funeral Home. The burial will be in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
