Carmel Nicholas Catania passed away on January 31, 2021, at the age of 70. Charlie, as he was more affectionately known, died peacefully at home with his beloved Wife, Adelaide, at his side.

Charlie was born to John and Josephine Catania in 1950 in Marsa, Malta. Charlie was the second eldest of 10 siblings. Charlie was a member of the British Airforce from 1968 to 1973 stationed in Malta, Europe. In 1973, Charlie married the love of his life, Adelaide née Falzon. In late 1973, Charlie and his beautiful bride moved to Detroit, Michigan in search for more opportunities than the little island republic of Malta could offer them. Bringing very little with them, Charlie was determined to make a wonderful life for his family and found a job the day following their arrival in the United States. After working for smaller companies for a few years, in 1977, Charlie went to work for Ford Motor Company at the Dearborn Engine Plant. Charlie retired from Ford after 30 dedicated years of service.

Charlie is survived by his Wife, Adelaide Catania; children: Annabelle Catania, and Joanne Catania (Kathleen Lindhout); grandchildren: Samuel Pratt and Kathryn Pratt; his siblings: Reno Catania (Diane), Maria Poynter (David), Anna Skowronski (Edward), Josephine Raupp (Christopher), Helen Grose, Carmen Cole, Paul Catania, Joseph Catania (Millie),and Jane Borg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Catania, and by: sister-in-law, Phyllis Falzon; brother-in-law, Albert Falzon; brother-in-law, Joseph Falzon; sister-in-law, Mary Falzon; brother-in-law, Paul Falzon; brother-in-law, Jim Grose; brother-in-law, Charlie Borg; and sister-in-law, Carmen Camilleri.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Noon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church located at 5900 Oleander Drive, Orlando, Florida 32807. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow the Mass (beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m.) at DeGusipe Funeral Home located at 9001 N. Orlando Avenue, Maitland, Florida 32751.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospitals, St. Jude's Hospital, or the American Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.
