Carl Alberto Tellez of Winter Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on December 11, 2020 at the age of 72 from coronary disease. He was born May 14, 1948 in Bogota, Colombia. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Polan), his son Christian, his daughter Jillian and son-in-law Conrad Holub, his brother George and sister-in-law Nora, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nohemi Tellez (Rodriguez) and Jorge Tellez, his mother-in-law, Raymonde Polan (Wins) and father-in-law, Bernard Polan.
Carl was a loving father, a caring family member and friend, and a fantastic dog dad to Tasha and Dante. He moved to the United States at a young age, and graduated from City College of New York with a degree in mechanical engineering. Carl then began a lifelong career in the transportation business, starting as a taxi medallion owner in New York City and then moving on to various transportation management roles in Florida.
Carl had a heart of gold and made friends everywhere he went - he could frequently be found striking up conversations with bank tellers, nurses, or veterinarians during visits, and was known as the "mayor" of the airport where he worked and Tuskawilla nursing home because of the friendly greetings he shared with staff and residents while visiting his mother-in-law.
He enjoyed spending time with family and his doggies, collecting rare coins, decorating the house with Christmas lights for the annual Oak Forest Christmas light competition, and visiting flea markets. He was loved and adored by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital:
