Obituary

Chief Warrant Officer W-2 Billy Dean Quinton, Sr., US Army (Ret) was called home to
be with Jesus on February 19, 2025, after 49 years of marriage to his beloved wife, JoAnn
(Froom) Quinton. He leaves behind countless family and friends who mourn his loss, yet they
take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is now in glory.

Billy was born to John C and Erene Quinton in Trion, GA on November 14, 1934. At the
young age of fifteen, he enlisted in the Army and went on to serve on the frontlines of both the
Korean and Vietnam Wars. His twenty years of military service were among the proudest
achievements of his life. Billy reached the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2 and earned numerous
commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal for his
exceptional service during combat.

After retiring from the military, Billy didn't slow down. He relocated to Florida where he
met and married JoAnn. While he only obtained minimal formal education due to his early entry
into the Army, he was able to start and operate his own successful real estate appraisal
business which he ran out of his home. He was also an active member of the Breakfast
Optimist Club, serving as President and organizing years of charity fish-a-thons. His passion for
fishing was infectious, and he loved sharing his joy with younger generations, encouraging them
to find the same peace and excitement he did on the water. He also served as President of the
13th Engineers Korean War Veterans Association and took great pride in producing the monthly
newsletter for the organization.

Billy lived life to the fullest. He had many hobbies including boating, fishing,
photography, and collecting and shooting firearms. He was the life of any gathering, especially
during his cherished times in the Keys, where he spent countless hours on his boat (Cotton
Top), diving for lobster and fishing for Mahi. His infectious laughter, sense of adventure, and
love of including his family and friends in his fishing trips and holiday traditions- like his
legendary Christmas stockings- will never be forgotten. His generosity knew no bounds and he
was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Billy will be deeply missed by his wife JoAnn, daughter Tara (Kris), sons Billy (Kay),
Kurtis (Donell), and Dale, as well as his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and
friends. While our hearts ache at his passing, we take great comfort in knowing that he is finally
face to face with Jesus in heaven.
