Betty Schottel, age 71, of Oviedo passed into the light of peace on January 4, 2017 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.

Betty was from Staten Island, New York and moved to Leesburg FL. in 1990. She graduated from Adelphi University in 1985 with a Masters Degree in Social Work eventually opening her own practice in Umatilla, FL. Her life's work was to help others. Betty helped many people in her career specializing in drug and alcohol abuse as well as post traumatic stress disorder.

Betty is survived by her daughter Jennifer Furey Kunitsugu, and her grandchildren Joshua Kunitsugu and Alexander Kunitsugu.

Loved by many, Betty's compassion towards others left the world a better place.
