Bessie L. Loy, 86, of Winter Park, Florida passed away peacefully on January 23rd, 2017 in Altamonte Springs. She was born on December 5th, 1930 to parents, Ada and Ples Bush in Bonifay, a small town in the Panhandle of Florida. They had 4 girls and 1 boy. Bessie was the youngest girl in the family.

She married Nevin Loy (deceased) when she was in her early 20s. She went from life in a small town to being a proud military Air Force wife. Dennis was soon born in the chill of Alaska in 1954. Their other military moves included Texas, where David was born in 1956, followed by a move to Seville, Spain. They returned to Oklahoma, where Dwayne, the third son, was born in 1963. They settled in Winter Park in the early 1960s.

Bessie was known for her quick smile and her sweet sense of humor. She loved sharing a good story, especially of her childhood days in Bonifay. For some years she worked as a private duty nurse companion. She enjoyed gardening and, most of all, cherished her grandchildren and all her family. She lived in Georgetown Estates, in Winter Park for 48 years, until her move 4 1/2 years ago, to Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs.

Her surviving siblings include her sister, Rose, of Fort Walton Beach and her brother, Jack (wife Donna), of Orlando. Bessie's three sons, Dennis of Austin, Texas, David of Winter Park (wife, Mary) and Dwayne of Apopka (wife, Lori) meant the world to her. Bessie was so loved by her grandchildren, Stephanie, of Orlando, Stephen, of Naples, Lauren, of Austin and Desiree, of Apopka.
