Berris Brown Sr. was born in Trelawny, Jamaica on June 09, 1920 to James Brown and Florence Stewart, the third son of four boys. He attended school there in Trelawny before marrying Louise Palmer, his devoted wife of 50 years. To this union were born three children; two boys and a girl. They settled in Cambridge, Jamaica which became their permanent home.
Berris Sr. learned to master the trade of a tailor in Montego Bay, building men's suits and designing other clothes of which was a means of living in supporting his family. He also trained two of his younger nephews in the trade as skilled tailors. Berris also assisted his other relatives in providing materials and making uniforms for their schooling.
He was also a farmer which provided much food for his family. He was willing and on many occasions helped others with his produce of foods for the needs of their families without any cost to them. For these he was known for his kindness and meekness and was dearly loved by others.
One of the cherished moments of Berris Sr., was his baptism some 50 plus years faithfully proclaiming his faith with the Cambridge Congregation where he served as a ministerial servant and helping others in the Congregation. Berris Sr. was a great aid in building the Kingdom Hall that he attended for many years.
In September 2002, he moved permanently to the United States and resided with his son, and daughter-in-law where he continued in his worship in serving his God Jehovah in the Maitland area.
Berris Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his two sons Dudley Brown and Berris Brown Jr. (Sheriah) his loving daughter-in-law, his grandchildren Omar Brown, Kenissa Brown, Kenneth Brown, Kevin Brown, Shaneek Brown, Treecia Brown, and Orlando Brown. He is survived by 13 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. He is also survived by two step daughters, Yvonne Forbes and Ina Kelly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise Brown and three brothers, Stanford, Ustas and Willis. He is survived by a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
