Beatriz Sicard(Piedrahita) died peacefully at Lutheran Haven in Oviedo, Florida, on August 10, 2026, at the age of 91.

Beatriz is survived by her children: Maria C. Reed of Ft Pierce; Patricia P. Baldwin and husband Jack of Winter Springs; Carlos D. Piedrahita, Jr. of Orlando; brother, Pio Casadey and sister-in-law Diane, of Port Orange; grandchildren, Tyler King and husband Jeff, Andrea Piedrahita, and John A. Baldwin, Jr.; and great grandchildren Isaiah, Kimberly, and Sebastian, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Elvia, and brother, Jaime Sicard.

Beatriz was born in Bogota, Colombia, on April 21, 1935. She married Carlos D. Piedrahita and in 1963 they immigrated with their children to the United States. They settled in Queens(Astoria), New York, and later moved to Bergenfield, New Jersey. In 1969 the family moved to Casselberry, Florida.

In 1982, Beatriz made a midlife career change, becoming first an LPN and later an RN. She spent the majority of her career working in maternity and pediatrics at Florida Hospital, Deland. Being a grandmother was perhaps the greatest joy of Beatriz’s life, and each of her grandchildren hold special memories of times spent with her. Despite being divorced, Beatriz and Carlos remained dear friends, enjoying time with their grandchildren, until his passing in 2005.

A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland, FL
