Barry was born on May 8, 1951, in Sanford, Florida. He successfully owned and operated an appliance store for over 30 years. He was a man of honor, integrity, and compassion. If Barry Hicks gave you his word, you could consider the deed done.

Barry's first priority in life was always his family. He made time for daily phone calls, many shared vacations, and cherished weekly Sunday dinners with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandson. He was deeply loved by his family, and that love was evident in every moment they shared.

He loved traveling and found joy in anticipating what was just around the next corner. He was the embodiment of a kind and loving man, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and he will be forever missed.

Barry was preceded in death by his father, James Hicks; his loving mother, Charlotte Hicks; and his sister, Barbara Owens. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 52 years, Cherie Hicks; his daughter, Dana Mahnken (Chris Mahnken); his granddaughters, Chelsea Mahnken (Knavis McGowan), Lauren Mahnken, and Chloé Mahnken; his great-grandson, Kristopher "Coast" McGowan; and his brother-in-law, Sammie Owens.
