Rogers, Barbara Major, Winter Park, Florida, passed away on October 21st at the age of 83. She was born on September 18th, 1931, in Shavertown, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the former Kingstontownship High School in 1949. She worked for the United Way after high school, and later graduated from Mansfield University in Pennsylvania in 1958. Barbara taught grade school for several years in New Jersey, and later became the school librarian in Ewing, New Jersey, for 36 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Winter Park, Florida, where she enjoyed volunteering for several organizations around the Central Florida area such as the New Leaf Bookstore in the Winter Park Public Library. She was a member of the Towne Club of Winter Park, the Winter Park University Club and Winter Park Women's Club, along with the Central Florida English Speaking Union and the PEO. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Major and Hazel Brown Major of Shavertown, Pennsylvania; her two aunts, Mrs. Goldie Ide and Mrs. Marion McCarty, both of Dallas, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph J. Rogers; one cousin, Victor McCarty, Wilkes- Barre, Pennsylvania. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, 3:00pm at All Saints Episcopal Church, 338 E. Lyman Ave., Winter Park, Florida, 32789, with a reception immediately following the service in the Mary Martha Parlor.
