Obituary

Barbara Lee Milam Ashworth was 83 years old when she passed in to heaven on Thursday, January 10, 2018. She had just moved in to Atria of Lake Forest, Sanford, Fl after living at Oakmont Village in Lake Mary, FL since her husband's passing 7 and ½ years ago.

Barbara Lee Milam was born on December 15, 1934, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Minnie Gladys Webb and Ernest Earl Milam.
While growing up in Beckley Barbara played 3rd Clarinet in the Woodrow Wilson High School Flying Eagle Band during her senior year where she was also active in Booster, Art, Drama, and G.A.A. clubs. She was also a flag girl for the band

Barbara Lee Milam married Harold Blaine "Pete" Ashworth at the First Methodist Church in Beckley, West Virginia, on July 25, 1953.
They lived in Beckley for four years where Barbara worked for the Beckley office of the Chesapeake and Patomic Telephone Co. she was a life-long member of Beta Sigma Phi, an International women's social, cultural and service organization

Her only child, daughter Debra Lee, was born on June 16, 1954, in Beckley, West Virginia. Three years later they moved to Charleston, WV where "Pete" worked for Esso. In 1965 Esso relocated the family to Milwaukee, WI and then 2 years later they moved to Maitland, Fl where they became active in the Maitland Presbyterian Church. From 1970 until her retirement she worked as a Realtor for Springs Realty in Longwood.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Milam and sister, Flo Nickels. She is survived by her three sisters, Geneva Jurcin and Betty Rodes, both of Cleveland, OH and Gladys Wiltshire of Richmond, VA. She left behind her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Bob Hawkins of Lake Mary, Fl; two grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Lauren, and Jaime Hawkins; 4 great grandchildren, Paxton and Camden McKee, Bryce and Blake Hawkins.

A Celebration of Life service led by Rev. Leslie McRaney will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory - Maitland Chapel at 4pm this Thursday January 18th
