Mrs. Audrey "AJ" Alean Jones of The Villages, FL, passed away on Monday June 22, 2015 at the age of 77 after a short battle with cancer.
Audrey is survived by her husband of 52 years, Garry Jones; her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Christopher Budion; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Kathleen Jones; sons, Gregory and Brian Jones; brothers William, Robert and Jerry Stowell; sister Mary Zinion; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Christine Marie Jones and brother Norman Stowell.
Audrey was born on May 4, 1938 in Olean, NY to William and Dorothy Stowell. She graduated from Olean High School in 1956 and St. Mary's College of Nursing in Rochester, NY in 1959. Her first nursing job was in San Francisco, California. She later returned to Olean where she met and married Garry Jones in 1963.
Audrey's passions were her family, nursing, and helping others. After a combined 38 years of nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Olean, NY and Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN, Audrey and Garry retired to The Villages, FL where she spent her time as a volunteer for The Villages Regional Hospital. When she wasn't volunteering at the hospital's thrift shop she could be found cheering on the Minnesota Twins with her beloved cat, Max.
Audrey requested to be cremated and her ashes will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery Bushnell after a private ceremony.
