Obituary

Aubrey Milan (Chip) Hitt, III passed away peacefully in his home on February 13th at 5pm after a 6 year battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He was surrounded by loved ones looking out at the golf course which were his wishes. He was 65.
Chip is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer; sons, Austin and Andrew; sister, Candice (Kevin) Whitlock; Aunt Nancy Pinkard, mother-in-law, Donna Jeffers; cousins: Forest, Susan, and Charlie. He is preceded in death by his wonderful parents Janice and Milan Hitt, and his favorite Uncle Ballard, plus a few special golf buddies – and we know they were all happy to greet him.
Chip was born in Salem, Virginia, on November 20, 1958. He started working when he was 12, delivering newspapers, mowing lawns, and working at a pizza place… but then found his true passion of working at the golf course. He enjoyed a successful golf career in high school and at Roanoke College, where he is in the Golf Hall of Fame.
Chip then began his 40-year career in the equipment finance business. He loved the art of the deal and helping his customers. His final role was with One Florida Bank, working closely with one of his best friends, Randy Burden, whom he loved very much. The two of them, along with Connie Caldwell, assisted many companies, built lasting relationships, and grew the business. Chip's greatest role however, was being a wonderful father to Austin and Andrew. He loved them so much. He so enjoyed many days on soccer fields, baseball fields, and especially the golf course.
He taught us so much and we are so thankful for his kindness, wisdom and strength. A Celebration of Life will be held at Heathrow Country Club on Monday, February 26th at 5:00pm. We look forward to seeing you then.
