Cote', Arthur Paul "Jock", of Gulfport Florida, passed away peacefully under the nurturing care of Suncoast Hospice on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the age of 90. Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his "Honey" and wife of 48 years Teresa M Cote (Amaral), his children Pearl Parent, Kenneth Conrad, Marie Jordan, Edward Conrad and Gino Cote', as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. His parents Joseph and Antonia preceded Arthur in death, as did his eight siblings (John, Edward, Blanche, Gabriel, Victoria, Pauline, Germaine and Gloria). Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts Arthur was forced to quit school at the age of 14 to support his family following his Father's death. He worked as a glass cutter for most of his youth and young adult life and held many trade jobs until he moved to Brockton, MA to manage Line Lumber in Stoughton, MA. This is when he met the love of his life, Teresa, coaching her son Kenny's little league team. Arthur and Terry lived with their family for over thirty years in Stoughton, MA and enjoyed lots of good times with family and friends. He worked at Commercial Sheet Metal in Canton, MA until his retirement in 1990. Many times Arthur worked extra jobs in addition to his full time job to provide for his family and his work ethic and loyalty became a pillar of his character to all that knew him.
Even during retirement Arthur and Terry worked every weekend at local flea markets selling "treasures" which became a passionate hobby for both. After moving to Town Shores, in Gulfport, Fl in 1999, they continued this passion running and coordinating local estate sales.
Arthur was the president of the Nottingham Building Board for several years and made some lasting friendships with his Town Shores neighbors. He was an avid Boston sports fan for his entire life. The Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots were like old friends that he shared with everyone.
He was very handy and enjoyed home projects and fixing things. He loved telling jokes, having big family dinners, watching the game or just reminiscing about his life experiences. Arthur will always be remembered as a loving husband, caring father and just a great man. The family will have a celebration of life for Arthur at a later date in Massachusetts.
Donations to Suncoast Hospice in his name would be a great way to honor his memory.
