Arlene Genevieve Magee, 79, of Longwood, Florida, peacefully passed into the Arms of her Lord, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 after a brief illness. Pre-deceased by her spouse, Douglas J. Magee and by her firstborn son, James D. Magee, reunited for Eternal Life. Arlene is survived by her loving sons, Richard John Magee (Richelle) Apopka, FL; Donald Paul Magee, Orlando, FL; and Thomas Patrick Magee (Ruby) Lake Mary, FL.
Mrs. Magee, a.k.a, "Mom-Mom" is also survived by her five grandchildren who loved her kisses and hugs: Her first and only granddaughter, Samantha Anne Magee Lindsey (Drew), Rockmart, GA; Christopher Lee Magee, Marietta, GA; Kyle Richard Magee, Apopka, FL,; Douglas Patrick Magee, Longwood, FL and Michael Thomas Magee, Longwood, FL. She is also survived by her only great grandchild, Callaway "Cal" Wynn Magee who she didn't have the opportunity to meet but was thrilled with seeing pictures of him with hopes of a trip to see him.
Mrs. Magee was born in Jersey City, NJ, preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore Zammit and Genevieve Brzezinski Zammit. She was the second of five sisters; Dolores Perrelli (Gabe) Lodi, NJ; Carolyn Beach (Frank), St. Johns, FL; preceded in death, Bernadette Michel (Carl) Mineral, VA and the youngest of the five, Norma Hunter (Paul), Tampa, FL. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren and many friends of St. Mary Magdalen Parish that she considered her second family.
Upon graduation from high school, Mrs. Magee worked at Sylvania Electric Co., NYC where she met the man of her dreams, Douglas, and was blest to celebrate their Sacrament of Marriage, 58 yrs. She became a full time homemaker upon the birth of their first son, James and would live and raise their children in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Florida.
Mrs. Magee has been a lifelong (40 plus years) member of the St. Mary Magdalen Parish where she played an active and visible role in the Newcomer's Welcome Committee, Ministry to the Sick, Pre-marriage Counseling and was a long time member of the choir at the 10 a.m. Mass.
She volunteered her time at the annual Fall Festival selling 50/50 tickets and one year she and her husband were named King and Queen of the festival and were included in the traditional opening parade. She proudly wore her tiara for weeks.
Mrs. Magee and her husband loved to travel. Their favorite and much visited place was the Peppermill at Reno. She loved going out to dinner, Chinese buffets in particular.

A private visitation will be held Friday, February 12th from 5 to 6 p.m. for immediate family and a public visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 N. Orlando Ave, Maitland, FL 32751

A Memorial Mass in Celebration of the Life of Arlene G. Magee is scheduled for Sat., February 13th, 11 a.m., St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Maitland Ave. and Spring Lake Rd. with a Reception following in the Church Annex.

Attire: Please honor Arlene by wearing festive colors representing the Valentine holiday weekend and the birth date of her second born son, Richard and sister, Carolyn.
