Obituary

Anthony "Tony" J. Hagemeyer passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Altamonte Springs, Florida, at the age of 76.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Debi (Mathews) Hagemeyer; his son, Anthony Hagemeyer Jr.; his sister, Rita Smith; daughter-in-law, Grisel Hagemeyer; and beloved grandson, Lucas Hagemeyer. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Lexi, and nephews Jeff Smith, Rob (Tonya) Smith, and Scott (Catie) Smith.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Tony was the son of the late Anthony and Rosemary (Rothan) Hagemeyer. He was a proud graduate of Elder High School and earned his degree in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati in 1970. Tony met the love of his life, Debi Mathews, in Lexington, Kentucky, and they married in 1982.

After relocating to Longwood, Florida, Tony began a distinguished career with the Department of Defense as a Criminal Investigator, retiring in 2005. His dedication to public service continued as he audited prisons for the state of Florida for nearly a decade, retiring for the second time in 2015.

Tony will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, sharp wit, and deep love for his family. Tony was the greatest example of what it means to be a devoted husband and father. He will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him as one of the kindest souls. Humble by nature, Tony never sought the spotlight, despite a life filled with personal and professional accomplishments. His quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering love for his family leave a legacy that will be cherished forever. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A vigil service in honor of Tony will be held on Sunday, August 17th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland, Florida.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 18th at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Catholic Church, followed by burial. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tony's life.
