Annette Jean Blondell Hanna - dedicated mother, and grandmother - passed away on June 26, 2023, at 86 in Minneola, Florida.
Annette was born to George and Inez Murray in Kingston, Jamaica. She studied cosmetology at a salon off Halfway Tree Road and later worked, styling hair and giving manicures, at the Arawak Hotel in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. One of her co-workers and a good friend introduced her to Joseph Badie Hanna on a blind date. They were married shortly afterward and started a family. Annette' s life changed to a more domestic position, raising her children and tending house. The family was devastated when her second-born son became very ill and passed away in 1971. By 1976 Joe, Annette, and their three surviving children immigrated to America and settled in Clearwater, Florida. Annette raised her children in Clearwater after she and Joe divorced. She moved to Minneola, FL in 2013 to be close to her daughter. Annette spent her days tending to her rose garden, reading, and crafting. She was best known for her creativity and her beautiful handmade needlepoint and embroidery work. Most of all, many will remember her smile and
charming personality.
Annette made many friends and enjoyed Tai Chi in her later years. She was preceded in death by her son, Barrington Joseph Hanna, and sister, Veta Clare Murray. Annette is survived by her children: Steven Hanna; Anjanette Mercer and her husband, Timothy Mercer; and Gregory Hanna and his wife, Shawna Hanna. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jessica (Mercer) MacGregor and her husband, Cody; Joseph Mercer; Hunter Hanna; and Chloe Roberts. Annette will also be remembered by her sisters, Marlene Murray and Rosemarie Carby, and brother, Franklin Murray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
