Ann K Blackman peacefully passed away January 22, 2016 at the age 93
She was born May 8, 1922 in Indianapolis, Indiana to George Vladimir Klimes of Prague,
Czechoslovakia and Enza Maurine Boteler of Indianapolis, Indiana. Ann was preceded in
death by her infant son, John David Blackman, Col. Richard O. Blackman, husband and
Col. Frederick P. Stein, second husband.
Ann grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated from Fairfax Hall, Waynesboro,
Virginia in 1942. She was proud of being an Air Force wife, a deployment coordinator in
WWII and a Gray Lady nurse volunteer. With her first husband, she was stationed in
Louisiana, Canada, the Philippines, Hawaii and Virginia.  She used to play golf, was an avid reader, enjoyed bridge and Ma Jong with her friends.
She had an extensive collection of bears.
Anyone who was lucky enough to have crossed paths with Ann found a gracious elegant
lady who was always beautifully dressed and groomed. If you were fortunate enough to
get to know her you were treated to her big heart, beautiful smile, welcoming
personality and wonderful perspective on life. Ann had a strong faith in God and always
offered loving support to help so many get past their troubles.  She had a great sense of
humor and a cute laugh. Everyone who knew her came away a better person.
After moving to Winter Park in 1971 she married Col. Frederick Stein in 1974 and then
relocated to The Springs, Longwood in 1976 and finally settling in at Village on the
Green, Longwood, Fl, in November 2005. It was there that she met Col. Sandy Gonzalez
who became her closest companion for the next nine years.  Like her late husbands he is
a retired Air Force colonel which led them to discovering they had many mutual
acquaintances and friends from the Air Force community.  Ann and Sandy loved
socializing, dancing, cruising and spending time with their children.  Ann leaves many
wonderful friends at Village on the Green.
Ann is survived by Richard & Lisa Blackman, son and daughter‐in‐law, grandsons, R.J.,
Philip & Christian Blackman, Fairfield, CT; James P. Blackman & Leann Townsend, son
and his fiancé', Indian Harbour Beach, FL; Col. Sandy Gonzalez, long time companion and
his daughters, Lynda and Sandra and families; Col. Frederick & Julia Stein, stepson and
wife, Killeen, TX; Frederick & Douglas Stein, step‐grandsons and families; Alex & Pam
Harrison, Croton on Hudson, NY, Scott & Bonnie Harrison, Bainbridge Island, WA, step‐
nephews and their families.
A viewing will be held Thursday January 28, 2016 from 4:00‐6:00 p.m. at DeGusipe
Funeral Home & Crematory; 9001 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland, FL 32751.  Services will be
held the following day, Friday January 29, 2016 at 11 am at The Episcopal Church of the
Resurrection 251 E. Lake Brantley Dr., Longwood, FL 32779 followed immediately after
by a celebration of life at Village on the Green 500 Village Place, Longwood, FL 32779.
Ann will be interred at Arlington national Cemetery at a later date alongside her first husband Richard.
