Allan L. Nash transitioned peacefully surrounded by family, December 27, 2024, at the age of 97.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Myrtle Nash, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Allan was born January 25, 1927, to Myrtle Nash and Melbourne Levy in Manhattan, New York. He was the second of four children and was predeceased by his parents, siblings, and their spouses, Malcolm Nash (Gertrude), Gloria Levy Johnson (Ernest), and Mervis Levy (in infancy).
Allan was educated in New York City Public Schools and entered the United States Army upon graduation, at the age of 18. He proudly served in World War II, from 1945 to 1952, and was part of the recovery efforts in Japan, eight months following the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He received an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal for his service during that time.
As a private citizen, he resumed his education, earning an Associate Degree in Engineering at night, while working during the day. Professionally, Allan maximized his mechanical skills at Litton Industries for twenty-three years, training site employees in the use of various machinery. He retired from the New York City Transit Authority, after 10 years of employment as a Mechanical Engineer. In retirement, Allan enjoyed spending time on his computer researching different topics of interest and sharing his learning with others. An avid sports fan and former athlete, Allan enjoyed swimming and league bowling. He and his wife also enjoyed entertaining, being surrounded by family, and in later years, reading through the entire Bible together.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am, January 10, 2025, at the Annunciation Catholic Church, Altamonte Springs, FL. Repast to follow Interment.
