Obituary

Allan Francis (F.) Keeth, age 94, passed away at his home in Sanford/Lake Mary, June 30, 2021. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he was the son of the late Jacob A. and Frances L. Keeth.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Geraldine A. (Jerry) (Rollberg) Keeth (d.2006) and is survived by sons William Don (Dana), Belmont, Massachusetts, Robert Allan (Christine), Bend, Oregon, and daughter Elizabeth Ann Miller (George), Tallahassee, Florida, grandsons Sean Keeth, Savannah, Georgia, Graham Keeth, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Ryan Keeth, Providence, Rhode Island, Evan Miller and Taylor Miller, both of Tallahassee, Florida, and granddaughter Rikki Bode, Daytona, Florida, and dear friend Helen Minteer, Overland Park, Kansas.

Mr. Keeth enjoyed many hobbies including boating, fishing, traveling, reading and 'puttering' around the house. Growing up in the midwest, he was an Eagle Scout. He will be remembered for his love of all things Scottish, and in particular, his enjoyment in reciting the "Ode to the Haggis," and ceremoniously leading the "Kirkin' O' The Tartan" in brogue while fully kilted for the occasions.

Mr. Keeth attended Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, and graduated from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Navy veteran in World War II. He was employed for twelve years by Dowell Incorporated, and Dow Industrial Service (both divisions of Dow Chemical Company), primarily in service to the oil well drilling industry, prior to moving to Florida.

Settling in Sanford, he founded and operated a heating and air conditioning business. Mr. Keeth was elected to the School Board of Seminole County in 1966, and served through 1982. He was president of the Florida School Boards Association in 1975-76. His service to the school system was recognized in the naming of Keeth Elementary School, in Winter Springs. Mr. Keeth was a member of the Sanford Lodge #62, F&AM, the Sanford York Rite Bodies, Orlando Scottish Rite Bodies and Bahia Shrine Temple, AAONMS. He was a member of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, a life member of the Keith Clan Society USA, Inc., and a former member of the St. Andrew's Society of Central Florida.

Mr. Keeth was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sanford and attended First Presbyterian Church of Lake Mary before his death.
