Seasoned cruiser, champion poker -player, sales guru and family man, Allan J. Hines, passed peacefully Sunday, October 9, 2016. Allan was a family man above all else. He proved himself to be a loyal and loving husband, dedicated father, devoted brother and fierce friend. His granddaughters were the light of his life and they always looked forward to watching cartoons with their "Papa".
Allan's distinguished career in copier sales started like all other great things, completely unexpected and out of the blue. He stayed with Richo, formally known as Lanier Worldwide, for 30+ years. As he grew within the company, his title grew with him. In management he was given the resources to help his colleagues and those around him in the business world.
For all those who knew Allan, they knew his love of card games and his "poker-face" was without compare. He would spend much of his free time playing in the poker-rooms of Daytona with his friends. The crown jewel of his poker career was his victory over Chris Bryan Moneymaker, a man who is credited in revolutionizing the game.
If anyone could turn cruising into a hobby, it would be Al. In the middle of the Caribbean Sea, Allan found the peace to quiet his busy life and create wonderful moments with his family.
Allan Jeter Hines was survived by his wife, Phyllis; his daughter, Mary; and granddaughters, Alice and Lily; and siblings Emmett "Buzz" Hines and Barbra Britton.
There will be a Celebration of Life on October 22, 2016.
