Obituary

Alice's life centered around God, family, and music. She was a communicant of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, FL and participated in its choir and handbell group for over 40 years. She san gin the Bach Festival Choir in Winter Park, Florida in the 1970's and 1980's. Previously as a communicant at St. Michael's Catholic Church in her hometown of Cohoes, New York, she sang in both its Polish and English choirs starting at age 9. She also sang, with her lovely mezzo-soprano voice, in the Captial Hill Choral Society in Albany, New York, which performed under multiple conductors at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Alice was a graduate of Cohoes High School, Albany Business College and matriculated to Sienna College in New York. She worked on the Manhattan Project during WWII while a secretary at General Electric in Schenectady, New York. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Stanley, four children-David Bessmer, Richard Bessmer, Paul Bessmer, and Kathryn Bessmer Hoeck, and nine Grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Interment will be at a later date in St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford, New York.
