This obituary shall serve as a brief account of the life of Alexander T. Sperry, in order to honor him and to share this occasion with family and friends who knew him.

LET IT BE KNOWN: On the evening of Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022, Alexander T. Sperry passed away peacefully at Advent Health South hospital, in downtown Orlando, Florida, while in hospice care.

Alexander T. Sperry, better known as "Sandy" to family and close friends, was born in Danbury, Connecticut on February 23rd, 1945, to William "Bill" Sperry and Barbara Taylor, and raised along with one dear younger sister named Dale. Sandy is survived by his son Alex and family (Norma and Scarlett), from Orlando, Florida; and his daughter Samantha and family (Brian, Will, and Beck), from Park City, Utah. Also remaining are many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews that Sandy had, living all across the United States, by the names of Mudge, McClintic, Douglas, and Knox.

During his younger years, Sandy attended the Choate School for boys in Wallingford, Connecticut, and then later attended high school at the Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton, Florida. Sandy's father, Bill, after having graduated from Yale, had established a bus transportation business in the greater Fort Lauderdale area, therefore sharing his family's time during the year between both Connecticut and Florida.

Sandy went on to attend college at Rollins College in Orlando, Florida, and after two years studying there, he decided to transfer to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, where he finally graduated.

In 1968, while still attending Rollins College, he met a fellow student named Sally Ewell, with whom he married soon thereafter. They went on to have two wonderful children, Alex and Samantha.

While living with his family in South Florida, Sandy worked in the banking industry, mainly in the operation and development of a new start up savings and loan institution, in the greater Fort Lauderdale region. Sandy also had experience working in the mortgage business, as well.

Always enchanted with living in South Florida, Sandy and his family especially enjoyed being near the ocean. They spent countless times at the beach, doing all kinds of activities, including boating, fishing, snorkeling, spearfishing, and scuba diving. Sandy was experienced in sailing, and also liked going on camping trips, taking his family to Disney, and playing tennis with his wife and kids.

On April 16, 2006, while attending an Easter Sunday service with his son Alex at Calvary Chapel in Melbourne, Florida, Sandy responded to a beautiful sermon given by Senior Pastor Mark Balmer, by accepting and trusting Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of his life. All that can be said about this event was that it was an absolute miracle, and was certainly direct evidence of the awesome power, love, grace, and providence of God.

Sandy was usually known among his family and friends for having a cool and calm demeanor, though he would get so excited over things he was passionate about, like a new opportunity, or a trip to visit an old friend. He was very cordial with friends and acquaintances and would always try to keep a pleasant conversation going. Sandy loved his family, for sure, and cared deeply for Sally, Alex, and Samantha. As I will now change from the third-person to the first-person point of view, I shall say that Dad always tried to do the right thing for us, in all circumstances, the best way he knew how. He also never asked more of us than to always try our very best, in anything and everything we did. Sandy believed in the truth, and that the truth would set you free!

Now, as I pause to reflect on everything this cool winter's night, with time standing still, I can only imagine the absolute joy, the wonders, the exuberance and exhilaration that Sandy has and feels right NOW, with Christ! Oh, Great Glory, Thanks Be to God!
