Alexander "Sandy" Lastarza, 90 of Casselberry, Florida passed away, peacefully at his home, into the loving arms of Jesus, on July 24, 2019. Sandy was born July 3, 1929 in Fonda, New York to Angelo Lastarza and Josephine Natale. He was the youngest child growing up with an older brother, Joseph Anthony Lastarza, who was predeceased. He is survived by his loving wife, of almost 66 years, Janet Lastarza, his son, Lawrence (Anne) Lastarza, daughter, Mary Jo (Greg) Ratliff, and daughter, Amy Hill, grandchildren, Ryan (Tiffany) Cunningham, Chris (Whitney) Lastarza, Benjamin (Caitlin) Ratliff, Taylor (Nash) Sloan, and Hunter (Amber) Hill. Known as ("Pop/Poppy"), he is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren.
Sandy served as a Sergeant , in the United States Army, from 1950 to 1952 and was Honorably discharged. Sandy met and married Janet Castellucci, the love of his life, on September 13, 1953, in St. Johnsville, New York. Theirs was a real-life love story. They moved to Central Florida, (a longtime dream) from Rochester, NY when he was transferred by Stromberg-Carlson in 1975. He retired from Siemens, Lake Mary, in 1991.
Sandy and Janet were actively involved at their church, serving as Eucharistic Ministers, and in the music ministry, for King of Kings prayer group, for over 36 years, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park, FL.
Sandy enjoyed all sports, World War II books, fishing, vacationing in New Smyrna Beach, and most of all, spending time with his loving family. He was known for many things: His kindness, compassion, his ingenious mind, his ability to problem-solve, and his endless sense of humor, (even up to his last day). He loved and provided for his family unconditionally. He was the family's spiritual leader, and a man after God's own heart. He was faithful, in ALL things and his life was a living testament of God's love. Because of that, the Lord used him to touch the lives of every person he met. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy. He was fiercely loved and will be deeply missed. Heaven has gained the Greatest Gift….
