Alex J. Abrams of Maitland, FL died peacefully on March 25, 2018 in Altamonte Springs, FL at the age of 70.
Alex is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Liz) Abrams and Katherine (Katy) Abrams; his son-inlaw Samuel Santos and Katy's partner, Paulo Lindh; his granddaughter-to-be (name forthcoming!); his siblings, Dolly Rector and Jerry Abrams; his sister-in-law Heather Abrams; his
nieces and their families; Susan Wager; Patricia and David Baer, and their children, Patrick and Lisa Baer; and Tami and Gino Crognale, and their children, Gino and Joey Crognale; and his nephew-in-law, David McAdams and his sons, Callen, Cash, and Copeland McAdams. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Lillie Abrams; his nephew, Jerry Lou Abrams; his
grandniece, Dana Baer; and his brother-in-law, Jack Rector.
Alex was born on November 23, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, as youngest child to Lou and Lillie Abrams. He graduated from Shaler High school in 1966 and graduated from Robert Morris College in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He married Jacqueline Abrams in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1970. After graduating from college he worked for Campbells Soup
Company as an Account Representative, and later worked for Brady Industrial Identification Products Company as Product Manager in the headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. They had two children in Pittsburgh, PA (1976 and 1978). In 1984 they moved with their children to Orlando,
Florida, and started a manufacturing and label company called Florida Marking Products (FMP). Over the years, both Liz and Katy (and many of their friends!) as well as many other family members worked at FMP, making it a true family business. He and Jackie divorced in 2002 but
remained business partners until he retired from FMP in 2013. He continued to work part time as a real estate agent since then, and never remarried.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a funeral service at DeGusipe Funeral Home (9001 N. Orlando Ave, Maitland, FL) on Friday, March 30th. Visitation and meet and greet is from 4:30-5PM. The funeral service begins at 5PM, with a reception to follow from 6-7:30PM.
