Obituary

Albert Fiore Zalfini passed away in his home in St. Petersburg, FL on January 9th, 2020 at the age of 92.
Albert was the first-generation son of Italian-born parents, Gaspare Zalfini and Theresa Verderosa. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA and was an avid Steelers fan. At the age of 17 he volunteered to join the United States Navy and served in World War II, in the Pacific Theater. He was a proud Veteran, who enjoyed going to the American Legion, Amvets and VFW. At 92, he hadn't slowed down a beat. Last year, he was honored to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington DC and the National World War II Museum in his favorite city, New Orleans, where he narrated each exhibit with more detail than the museum docents. Albert loved to travel, especially by train, on cruises and to casinos.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Connie, Angie and Mary, brothers Carlos, Ernest and Lawrence and his cat, Cattin. He is survived by many loving friends, nieces, nephews and his son, Albert Zalfini and granddaughters Amy Alaniz and Haley Zalfini.
Albert with be honored with a military service at Bay Pines National Cemetery on January 20th, 2020 at 11:00 am. The service will be immediately followed by a Celebration of Albert's life at the American Legion Post 273 in Madeira Beach.
