Obituary

Alan Donald Lasky, 88, of Sanford, Fla., passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020 after complications from a heart condition.

He was born in Chicago on February 27, 1932 to Emory and Yetta Lasky. Alan lived most of his life in Norfolk, Va., where he and his wife, Iris Lasky raised their three children. Alan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He retired from a long career in the automotive industry in 1994. He moved to Sanford, Fla. five years ago where he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending sporting events and going out to restaurants with his family and friends. Alan, or better known as Poppy, will be remembered for his caring nature, his joke telling and his absolute devotion to his grandchildren. Alan was a devoted friend to many, carrying on countless friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Alan is survived by his three children, Ellyn Bowman (Mark) of Bristow, Va., Ricki Lasky (Paula Siqueiros) of Lake Mary, Fla., Brian Lasky of Va. Beach, Va.; his five grandchildren Hannah and Cole, Karson, Graison, Sloane; and niece and nephew Stephen Lasky and Beth Hajazi. He is predeceased by both his parents and his beloved brother, Stuart Lasky.

The family will have a private celebration of Alan's life filled with love and laughter. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating or volunteering to a local homeless shelter as this was near and dear to Alan's heart.

The family of Alan Lasky invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute Wall created in his memory.
