Adrian D. Gibbons passed away at home in Sanford, FL on Friday 26th, 2016 at the age of 64 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Adrian was born in Speightstown, St. Peter in Barbados on August 5, 1951.
Adrian was a Police Officer in the Royal Barbados Police Force early in his career; he left Barbados in the 70's to join his family.
Adrian joined the United States Army in 1982 and rose to the rank of Sergeant. During his tenure in the army he was a heavy equipment mechanic. He ended his career in the United States Army Reserve after receiving an honorable discharge in 2008. He then worked in Kuwait for 10 years for Exelis a Sub-contractor for the US Military and was a Quality Assurance Manager; ensuring heavy equipment used by our solders was in good working order.
Adrian loved to travel and his passport was filled with stamps from the many countries he visited; which including Dubai, The Philippines, United Emeritus, Europe, he loved to explore and see how others lived. Adrian was also an avid sports lover and loved Politics. His recent interest since relocating to Florida in 2014 included cruising the Caribbean.
Adrian is survived by his (sons) Terrance Phillips (Canada) and Nathaniel Gibbons (Florida), (daughter) Natasha Gibbons (Kansas), (Brothers) Andrew Gibbons(Barbados) and Anderson Gibbons (Texas), (sisters) Andrea Gibbons (Florida), Allison Gibbons-Burke (Florida), and Angela Gibbons (Virginia), 3 grandchildren Keyshawn, Terrene and Isabella and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Adrian is preceded in death by parents Byron and Jean Gibbons
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The American Cancer Society.
