Roger Vyrl (R.V.) Henry Jr.
August 13, 1940 - February 9, 2022
Roger Vyrl (R.V.) Henry Jr (August 13, 1940 – February 9, 2022) Roger Vyrl (R.V.) Henry Jr. peacefully passed away on February 9th, 2022 at age 81. R.V. was born the only child to Roger Sr. and Lois Henry on August 13th, 1940 in Seville, Florida. He and his father moved to Orlando when he was a child to be near his mother in the TB hospital. R.V. attended Tildenville school and eventually Boone High School. He transferred to Lakeview High School and graduated from there in 1958. He then proudly spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps. After his service he married Judy Ann Wellinger, whom he would lovingly spend the next 52 years of his life with until her death in 2016. R.V. owned and operated his own septic tank business, which gave him the flexibility to be active in his community. He participated for many years in the local Lion’s Club, coached Little League baseball, hosted foreign exchange students and even chaperoned a few school field trips. For over 50 years, he and Judy started nearly every morning at the local coffee shop, which changed locations over the years and had an everchanging small group of friends. This time and these friends were a big part of his life. Everyone that ever met R.V. would attest to his character as a generous, kind, honest person with untarnished integrity. If he told you something, you could take it to the bank. More times than he could count, he would wake up to someone other than a family member sleeping on a couch or in a bedroom that just needed a place to stay for the night, weekend or even longer. The “Henry’s House” was always open and many visitors came and went over the years. His home hosted team parties, weddings, funerals, family reunions and many other events. R.V. was proud of what he had but was always grateful for it and happy to share. Over the years, R.V. and his family had fun camping together with other families. He also enjoyed driving to the coast to do a little fishing. At home, he enjoyed having a garden for many years. In his later years, he became an avid bowler and enjoyed time spent doing that with a good group of friends. He was also one of the very few dedicated, die-hard Orlando Magic fans. R.V. was an only child but was very proud of his large family. He is survived by his 4 children: Scott (Steph) Henry of Ocoee, Lisa (Jimmy) Drury of Pierson, Andy (Terri Davis) of Crescent City, and Mike (Laura) of Jasper GA. He is also survived by 12 grandkids and 21 great-grandkids, all of whom he adored! A Celebration of Life for R.V. will be held at Newton Park in Winter Garden, FL on Sunday, February 20th from 1:00 – 3:00pm. The family invites everyone to this informal, casual gathering of all that knew and loved him.
