Raymond Garland Lytle
February 5, 1932 - February 13, 2022
Raymond Garland Lytle, 90, entered eternal life into glory on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at his home in Winter Park, FL surrounded by his loving family and caregiver, Tony. Born February 5, 1932 in Stoneham, MA. Ray enjoyed music, nature, serving his church, helping his neighbors, and “building a better mousetrap”. Ray served in the U.S. Army. Then he became an HVAC mechanic for Martin Marietta, Boeing/TWA at Kennedy Space Center and was part of the Apollo 8-16 launches. He owned his own business (Lytle Roof Cleaning), served as the Sexton at All Saints Episcopal Church and then worked at Walt Disney World, from where he retired….however, “retired” was an oxymoron for Ray. Although he was legally blind, Ray managed to navigate the Lynx bus system for running errands and visiting family all around Central Florida. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Lytle; mother, Nancy Paine; father, Charles Lytle; brothers, Charles “Otie” Lytle & William “Bill” Lytle; stepsons: Charles M. Harbove and William Harbove. He is survived by his daughter Teresa Lytle, stepchildren: Robert Harbove (Lynda), Thomas Harbove (Holly), Debra Escandon, Mary Vernak (Andy), Margie Horton (Charlie); 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews. A Celebration of Life service for Ray will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at New Covenant Church, 800 Tuskawilla Rd., Winter Springs, FL 32708. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Foundation Fighting Blindness https://www.fightingblindness.org/about/about-us
