Norma J. Hoffar

July 29, 1922 - April 27, 2022

Norma J. Hoffar of Hobart, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the age of 99. She was born on July 29, 1922, in Corydon, Iowa, the only child of Merle and Laro Cobb. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Daniel in 1995 and son Michael in 2009. She is survived by three sons, Mark of Hobart Indiana, Thomas of Clermont Florida, and Steven of Orlando Florida, as well as daughter in laws Susan (wife of Michael) of Winter Springs, Florida, and Elaine (wife of Thomas) of Clermont Florida. In addition, she is survived by two grandsons Bradley (Laurie) of Coral Springs Florida, and Brian (Leah) of Lady Lake Florida as well as two great grandchildren, Jaxson (son of Bradley) as well as Abigail (daughter of Brian). Norma and Dan moved to Hobart from Chicago in 1949 and raised four sons. She joined the Junior Women’s Club and served on the steering committee for the Hobart YMCA. After the boys started school, she became active in the Mundell PTA and started working part-time for Dean Sangalis & Associates in Merrillville and later Sam’s Tech supply in Hobart. After retiring in 1988 she became a volunteer at St. Mary’s Medical Center, participated in several Red Cross Blood Drives and volunteered at the Hobart Presbyterian resale shop. Norma will be missed but never forgotten. Her smile and infectious laughter will remain in our hearts forever.
