Lennart Gust Eugen Edström
September 28, 1935 - January 7, 2022
Lennart Gust Eugen Edström, 86, proud Swedish-American resident of Apopka, Florida, passed on January 7, 2022. He is survived by his three loving children and their spouses, Filip and Carole, Mikael and Julie, and Katarina and Matt, his three adoring sisters, his extended family in Sweden, cousins all around the world, and his nine wonderful grandchildren, Victoria, Robert, Olivia, Kristofer, Niklas, Elena, Tessa, Erik, and Eliott. Lennart was truly one of a kind. Driven to learn, inspire, and succeed both in business and in life, he continually accomplished everything that he set out to do. Moving from Sweden, to Italy, to Kenya, and finally planting deep roots in Florida to grow his family and his business, there was no dream too big and no distance too far as long as his wife of almost 60 years, his beloved Britt, was by his side. As a self-proclaimed “doctor of nutrition,” Lennart was dedicated to maintaining his health and was incredibly blessed to be able to embrace life to its fullest until his final day. He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and professional drive in horticulture, his magnetic personality that connected him so effortlessly with everyone but especially children and pets, his Fred Astaire-like dancing feet that twirled Britt and other willing partners on many dance floors, his travel log to countries around the world, his mischievously charming smile, his well-honed golf swing, his vibrantly green thumb and passion for growing beautiful plants and delicious strawberries, his gorgeous yard that was admired by all who passed, his competitive streak on and off the golf course, his joy of fishing for the thrill of the catch, his love of a good Manhattan at the end of a productive day, his playful trick of “lång näsa” with his grandkids, and his remarkable dedication and love for Britt until her final day. Lennart’s memory will be cherished because he loved so deeply and showed it regularly through phone calls, a shared happy hour, a round of golf, a personal delivery of flowers to your door, or a welcomed seat at the table. His list of accomplishments and beautifully unique traits is very long, but we know that he will be remembered most for being an incredible example of how to live genuinely, fully, and generously; this is his true legacy. We find great comfort that he is reunited with his beloved Britt and know they are twirling on a dance floor once again. Rest in Peace dearest son, bror, Pappa, Farfar, Morfar, cousin and friend. Our hearts are broken because we will no longer see your dimples or hear your laugh in person, but they are incredibly full because we were blessed by everything you were, all that you taught us, and everything that we shared. Until we meet again, skål to your incredible life. Please join the family in honoring Lennart on February 5th, 10 AM at his nursery, Green Masters, 1431 E 1st St, Apopka, FL 32703. In lieu of flowers, he would have greatly appreciated your support for those facing Alzheimer’s disease. Please consider a donation in Lennart and Britt’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the local Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center in Orlando, Florida.
