Captain James Butch Coschignano

Captain James (Butch) Coschignano, 76 aka “Cash” passed away on January 29, 2022. Butch is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maggie, and his 3 children, Valorie (Glen), Jason (Toni), and Justin. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren Makenzie, Austin, Sam, Jackson, Zachary, Andrew, and Jacob and his 2 great grandchildren, Paisley and Magnolia. He is preceded in death by his parents Jimmy Coschignano and Eva Black. Butch was born on August 19,1945 in Ocoee. He graduated from Ocoee High School in 1964. He worked as a volunteer fireman before joining the fire department full time in 1971. He has the distinction of being the first paid firefighter for the City of Ocoee. He retired from the City of Ocoee in 1998 after 27 years of service. On November 25,1981 he married the love of his life, Maggie and they enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Affectionately known as “Poppy” Butch enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids at the beach. He was an avid history buff and baseball fan. His favorite teams were the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays. A Memorial service is being planned for a future date.
