Jamen C. Matthews Obituary "A Heart Too Big for This World. A Spirit That Couldn't Be Tamed."
In God's grace and infinite mercy, Jamen C. Matthews was called home to rest on Friday, June 27,
2025, at Norwalk Community Hospital, Norwalk, California, at the age of 28.
He was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on June 20, 1997. Surviving is his father, James Matthews;
His mother, Darlene Friend (Ralph Workman); One brother whom he considered his hero, Shadd
Matthews (Morgan Faris); and one niece, Logan Matthews. Paternal Grandparents:
Natalie Matthews; Maternal Grandparents: Jim and Marie Friend. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He
is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather, James Matthews, Sr.
Jamen graduated from Albert Gallatin High School in 2016, where he also attended the Fayette County
Career and Technical Institute studying welding.
This is not just an obituary. It's a story of triumph and courage. A lesson. A war cry.
Because Jamen's life demands to be remembered in full color — raw, wild, beautiful, and real.
From the very beginning, Jamen beat to his own drum. His life was messy, passionate, chaotic, generous,
and full of fire — exactly as he lived it. He was wildly creative, hilariously sharp, deeply protective, and
relentlessly loyal. He was the one who made people feel seen when the world overlooked them. A force.
A lover. A fighter. Jamen didn't flinch at life — he faced it head-on. He lived fast and loved harder. He
lived on instinct, off the map, and by his own rules. He was endlessly resourceful, infuriatingly charming,
and completely one-of-a-kind- a true warrior!
But even the strongest warriors get tired.
Jamen battled addiction and recovery. But let it be clear: he was more than that. Jamen was love,
laughter, unfiltered conversations, and unmatched loyalty.
He lived on his terms. And though he's no longer here in body, his impact reverberates in every person he
helped, every story shared, every heart broken by his absence, and everyone forever changed by his
love. And may we never forget the force he was — may we never let his light go dim.
If you knew Jamen — if he touched your life, made you laugh, or stood by you when no one else did —
we welcome you to come celebrate the bold and complicated life he lived on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 65 N Gallatin Ave, Uniontown, PA 15401 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A service will be held in the funeral home at 6:00 PM with Pastor Jason Lamar officiating. Interment is private.
