Howard Ray Nail

December 17, 1944 - April 12, 2022

On April 12, 2022 Howard “slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God.” He passed peacefully at home with his wife at his side. Howard was born December 17, 1944 in Woodlawn, Virginia, to Stella and Robert Ray Nail. Howard was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Nail, his children, Joseph Anthony Nale, (Kassondra), Jessica Lauren Sharone, and Bryan Ellison Nail (Nikki), and his sisters, Margaret Eastridge, and Peggy Sisk. The light of his golden years were his grandchildren, Aubrie Nicole Nail, Carter Daniel Sharone, Camilla Joleigh Nail, and great granddaughter, Oakley Ann Boilatt. Howard was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a man larger than life, making everyone feel welcome in his presence, and had a heart of gold. He was a friend to many and made every one of his family and friends see the humor in life, and was a great storyteller. We will miss his wonderful sense of humor and his infectious laugh. He was a beautiful reflection of the love of God, through his acceptance of the difficult times in his life.
