Carol Woodward Healy

Carol Woodward Healy, 81, of Osteen, FL., a longtime Florida resident who also lived in Vermont, California, and several European countries, died May 30 at HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital of complications from a fall. She was preceded in death by James Norman Healy, her beloved husband of 37 years, and her brother Robert H. Woodward Sr. of Pflugerville, TX. Survivors include stepchildren Michael Healy of Nashua, NH., Ellen (Bruce) Adams, of Berlin, VT., John (Shannon) Healy of Maitland, FL., David Healy of Casselberry, FL., grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great friends on Lemon Bluff and elsewhere. Mrs. Healy was born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and moved to Pompano Beach, FL., at age 10, when her parents initially planned to move to Mexico but instead stopped in Pompano and bought a motel. Mrs. Healy was lead majorette for the University of Florida Marching Band in the late 1950s and 1960s, where she was a member of Delta Gamma. After living in places including Hamburg, Germany, Florence, Italy, Madrid, Spain, and 10 years in Vermont, where she was a government employee, she and her late husband returned to Florida in 1976 spending some time in St. Petersburg before moving to Orlando to start a printing business. They later moved to San Diego, where she earned a degree at San Diego State University, and then returned to Florida in 1996, building their dream home on the St. Johns River, where she lived until her death. Memorial services are planned for 3 p.m. June 26, 2022 at 840 Lemon Bluff Road in Osteen and 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at Hope Cemetery in Barre, VT. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Carol Healy Memorial Fund at Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens where she was a volunteer working with giraffes.
