Dr. Bipinchandra (Bipin) Natverlal Shah
September 22, 1940 - January 15, 2022
Dr. Bipin N. Shah, a retired Urologist who practiced for over 50 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on January 15, 2022. He was born and grew up in Nakuru, Kenya. He was the son of Chandan (Vora) and Dr. Natverlal Maneklal Shah. From a young age, he had a calling to help people in need. He took up that calling and became a physician. He lived and practiced on four continents. He was one of a kind. He was brave, compassionate, and always there for anyone in need. He was full of life, laughter, and charm. He loved a good joke, and he always had a witticism handy for every occasion. When he smiled, he lit up the room. He loved bright and cheery colors. He would pick the brightest clothing to wear. He would prefer to eat food that was vibrant and did not look “anemic.” On the weekends, he would spend time with his family and check in with his relatives far and wide. He loved listening to Dean Martin, Neil Diamond, and Herb Alpert, and he never passed up an opportunity to ask a live piano player to play a song from one of these artists. He strongly believed in the importance of public service and philanthropy and was very active in the Ohio Urological Society, the Columbus Medical Association, the Columbus chapter of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, and the Gujurati Mandal Association. He also started the annual Physician Diwali Luncheon at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his wife Lina Shah and their children, Elaine Vivek, her husband Dr. Deepak Vivek, Larissa Shah, her husband Gaurav Singh, and Dr. Moneal Shah, and his wife, Dr. Bindu Raveendran. He leaves behind his five grandchildren, Anand Vivek with whom he would go to Anand’s favorite restaurants, Maya Vivek with whom he would eat Oreo and Milk Cakes in a mug, Jayan Shah from whom he would learn about different sports, Lila Shah with whom he would play vocabulary games, and Arhaan Singh to whom he would teach words in Swahili. He will be missed more than any words can express, and we will carry his memory in our hearts. His last rites were held at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 and can be viewed virtually starting at 10:30 AM. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM with visitation from 1:30 PM on February 13, 2022 at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. The family of Dr. Bipin N. Shah invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute Wall created in his loving memory.
