Yvonne Leola Hersey Wall

Yvonne Leola Hersey Wall passed away peacefully, in the early morning of December 20, 2009, after a long and valiant struggle with congestive heart failure. Yvonne was a native of Florida, born in Palatka to Viola Bennett and James Lee Hersey. She spent many years under the care of her Grandmother, Lucy Bennett in Penile. While in Palatka, Yvonne was a member of the Penile Baptist Church. After high-school graduation from Putnum High-School and during World War II, Yvonne moved to Miami. It was there she met and married a Navy man, Arthur Edward Wall, from Sebring Ohio. The couple began their lives together in Ohio and later lived in Miami (Folks there began to call her "Vonnie"). Their final place of residence was Winter Park, Fla. While in Miami, Yvonne had a career as a realtor. Yvonne was pre-deceased by her brother, J.L. Hersey of Palatka, Florida and her husband of 47 years, Art Wall. She is survived by many who love her dearly: her daughter, Janice Wall Rogers and Son-in-Law Dr. William Rogers Jr, Grandson Hunter and his fiancé Tiffany, Granddaughter Maggie, Great Grandson Joel as well as a large extended family of nieces, grand nieces-nephews and cousins. Yvonne dearly loved her family, each and every one. She delighted in every invitation to the family reunions and seasonal gatherings where family stories were told and retold and where laughter abounded. She enjoyed her home and in her later years she took great pleasure working in her garden with her flowers. She could never take a ride in the car without exclaiming her pleasure in the colors of the flowers passing by us. God has lifted her from this world into a heavenly garden where she is surely one of the loveliest flowers. It is with profound sorrow that we say goodbye to this wonderful woman filled with love and loved by all. A memorial celebration of Yvonne's life will be planned for sometime in the early part of the New Year. Friends and relatives will be notified of time and place. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations or memorial gifts be sent to either Hospice of the Comforter (480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32715) or Friends of Harry P. Leu Gardens (1920 N. Forrest Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32803).
