Mr Richard Boyd Wolfrey

Richard Boyd Wolfrey, 61, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2013 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. In May of 2012 Richard was given three months to live. He was determined to prove the doctors wrong, which of course he did. Almost one year later he finally succumbed to the illness but was sure to leave a great impact on his family and anyone who met him. Richard was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and grew up in Central Florida. In true “Southern Boy” fashion, Richard enjoyed anything outdoors, including his favorite pastime, fishing. Richard had a great love and passion for his family and of course the Florida Gators. Richard is survived by his wife Donna Jeanne Wolfrey; mother Wilda Mary Lou Wolfrey; sons Christopher Michael Wolfrey (wife Kristi), Jeremy Richard-Quinn Wolfrey (wife Katie), and Thomas Stockton Wolfrey; daughters Karen Linsey Ellis (husband Torree), Kaylin Jacquelyn- Marie Wolfrey, and Destiny Una-Quinn Wolfrey; sister Lynn Eleanore Wardlaw (husband JC); brothers James Daniel Wolfrey (wife Emily) and Edward Fleming Wolfrey (wife Karen), grandchildren Jasmine Wolfrey, Adrienne Wolfrey, Christopher “Boots” Wolfrey, Jr., MaLayjhia “May-May” Ellis, Trenadee “Mica” Ellis, Logan Ellis, and Maria Elena-Jeanne Wolfrey; mother-in-law Jacquelyn Nangle; father-in-law Edward Nangle; sister-in-law Diana Hoover; brother-in-law Donald “Tommy” Nelson (wife Gina), his beloved dog TJ and many other family and friends. Richard has been reunited with his father Horace Linsey Wolfrey, son Shawn Boyd Wolfrey, and his childhood dog, Queenie in the Kingdom of Heaven. If he were here today he would want everyone who is in mourning over his departure, to remember and cherish the memories and the time we shared with him. He has left us behind to serve as one of God’s angels and begin a journey in a land of which we can only dream about. Please take great comfort in knowing that we will one day see him again. Visitation will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland, Florida on March 13, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will also be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home on March 14, 2013 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jeff Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in Apopka, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of the Comforter, 480 West Central Parkway, Altamonte Springs, Florida 32714 or The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, New York, 11714 (100% of all donations are used toward pancreatic cancer research).
