Richard Emerson Briscoe "Rich" returned to our Father in Heaven 42 years and 5 months after his birthday on February 25, 2010. He was born on September 25, 1967 in Decatur, GA. Richard was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and fought the hardest fight of his life. His motto was "never never never give up". Showing few signs of fear and still smiling, cracking jokes and laughing most people would have never known he was sick. Richard was an extremely kind hearted man who often put others before himself. He was a devoted husband, father, loving son, caring friend and dedicated employee. Those who knew Richard said he had no enemies and no unkind words to say about anyone. Richard was passionate about economics, sports, music and horticulture. Richard graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in Economics. He was employed by Spectra Contract Flooring as a project manager. He was survived by his wife Christine Briscoe and daughter Grace Briscoe of Altamonte Springs FL, mother Linda Hester and step-father Bob Hester of Woodstock GA, father Hugh Allen Briscoe, Jr. of Snellville GA, sisters Robyn Byrom (husband-Travis) of Litchfield AZ and Emily Truong (husband-Hung) of Macon GA, brother Gabriel Hester (wife-Dana) of Atlanta GA, step-grandparents Hansel & Delores Hester of Marietta GA, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He joined in heaven his maternal and paternal grandparents. Richard loved the Lord and had no fear of death. He knew he was going to Heaven and is now walking the golden streets above looking over everyone who loved and cared for him. He will always live in our hearts until the time that we are together again. We know God called him to be by his side but we will always have his spirit to be our guide. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 11:00 am at Northland Church in Longwood, Florida and another service will be held on Saturday, March 13th at 11:00 am in Mt. Paran Church of God Chapel Atlanta, GA. In honor of Richard's wishes we are asking that in lieu of flowers anyone interested can make a gift contribution to Grace's college fund.
