Reginald Savage

Reggie was born in Montreal on May 1, 1970. He was welcomed into the Savage family at the age of one month. He is the last of a family of 4 children, he has 2 brothers and 1 sister. He lived in a family where love reigned. Being raised in a town where people of color were few and far between, he showed a lot of resilience throughout his career and life. At a young age, he discovered he had a natural talent for hockey and that's when discipline entered his life. He decided to make every effort necessary to achieve his goals. As a teenager, he began training 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, and continued to this day. He took good care of his health through diet and exercise. His determination allowed him to realize his dream of playing in the NHL. His family has always been there to encourage him. Reggie Savage played in nine leagues and 17 teams over the course of his career. Reggie was drafted in 1988 by the Washington Capitals, he also later played for the Quebec Nordiques. Reggie was a member of the Washington Capitals when he scored against Minnesota North Stars goaltender Jon Casey on November 18, 1992, at the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland. Reggie Savage is notable as one of only five NHL players to score his first career goal on a penalty shot. Reggie was a solitary man, but one who enjoyed company. He was a man of few words, but with a heart filled with generosity and love, especially for the people around him. No matter where he was, he was always ready to open the doors of his home and welcome everyone with open arms. He always led his life as he wanted, while maintaining a mysterious side. In 1996, he was lucky enough to have a son, Felix-Antoine, of whom he was always very proud. He got married to Trixie Neilda Giroux-Savage on July 1st, 2011, his wonderful wife. He shared his life with her children; Jadon & Jordon Coldero whom he loved and cared for. Reggie has accomplished many great things in his life both professionally and personally. After his hockey career ended, he worked as a security director for the largest hotels in the United States. Work was a very important part of his life for him and those who knew him will say that he gave 150% to work. Everything Reggie did, he did with passion and love and work was the element that defined him most. Reggie wanted his family to know how much he loved them. During one of his hospital visits when his pastor asked him if he knew what God was trying to show him, he sighed and said "YES"! "I believe God is trying to tell me to let my family know that they are the most important possession I have in my life. It's not about my job or what I have accomplished in life but how they see me and how I need to treasure my time with them. I need to take the time to spend with them for them to see my love. I have showered them with gifts but all they really want and need is me." Reggie was a son to Jean-Guy Savage and Rita Ouellette, he is a brother to Pierre, André and Sonia Savage, a godfather to André jr. Savage, Jeremy Lévesque and Alex Rivard and an uncle to Jessica Savage, Marieve Savage and Justin Lévesque. He was also a precious friend to many, and everyone will remember how much pride we felt when we were at his side. The wake and funeral will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home at 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd. Ocoee, Fl 34761 on Saturday January 6,2023 from 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM.
