Peggy Casey Greenslait

Peggy Casey Greenslait of Casselberry, FL was called to her Heavenly Home with the Lord on April 29, 2024. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Orlando, FL. While her family mourns her loss, they also celebrate Peggy’s wonderful life. Peggy is survived by her daughter Kristi Gray and partner Ronnie Newmans of Orlando, her grandson Thomas James Gray IV, her son Todd and wife Yvonne of Oviedo, her granddaughter Adelyn Casey, her former husband Ted Greenslait of Longwood , her sister Kay L. Lynch of Orange Park, nephew Kevin T. and Lorrie Carter of Jacksonville, niece Kally J. Carter of Franklin, TN , sister-in-law Charlotte Casey of Waynesville, NC , nephew Lew Casey and family of New Port Richey, nephew Randall Slade Casey and family of Marietta, GA , nephew Ashley Casey and family of St. Augustine, cousin Marilyn and husband Richard Melis of Huntsville, AL , cousin Kelly Casey and family of Winter Haven , cousin Allen Casey and family of Winter Haven. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Lewie B. and Alveema K. Casey of Lake City, her brother L. Frank Casey of Waynesville, NC, her niece Casey M. Carter of Orange Park , and her brother-in-law, James Lynch of Orange Park. As a true Florida Native, Peggy was born February 18,1935 in Pensacola, FL as Peggy Joyce to Lewie B. Casey and Alveema K. Casey. She grew up in Perry, FL and graduated Columbia High School in Lake City, FL in 1953. After high school, Peggy went on to attend Nursing School at Touro Infirmary /Tulane in New Orleans, LA where she graduated with a degree in Nursing in 1956. After graduation, Peggy worked at the VA Medical Center in Lake City, FL before moving to Jacksonville. In Jacksonville, Peggy worked for Baptist Hospital downtown where she eventually became the Charge Nurse for Surgery Recovery. Peggy’s nursing career would span over 50 years as a Registered Nurse in Florida and include both clinical and triage roles in both the hospital and private practice settings. Peggy even served as the school nurse for the elementary school where her son and daughter attended in Longwood, FL. Peggy was a dedicated nurse with a skill and passion for helping anyone in need. As noted recently by one of her attending physicians, she has helped a countless number of people over the years in her career. Peggy was just as dedicated as a Mother, Sister, Wife, Grandmother and Aunt. Peggy’s special interests included Grandchildren, Music, Cooking, Tennis, Church, FSU Football, Seafood, New Smyrna Beach, North Carolina mountains, but most importantly anything that gave her time with her Family. The Family was always Peggy’s #1 priority and she has left us all with such an important example to continue to model in her honor. A memorial service for Peggy will be held Saturday, May 18th 11:00am at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City located at 697 SW Baya Dr. Lake City, FL 32025 (386)752-0670 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to join the family in celebration of Peggy’s great life.
