Obituary – Paul John Brennan Jr DOB 3/31/1925 Deceased: Age 100, Sept. 5, 2025. Spouse’s name: Therese Marie Schad Brennan (Terry) (deceased, June 16 2011). Married Feb. 11, 1950. Children: Patricia (Chet), Kathleen (deceased; Michael), Paul III (Patricia), Daniel (Susan), Michael (Tiffany), Robert (Wendy). Grandchildren: 10 granddaughters, 3 grandsons. 11 great grandchildren. Paul was born in Philadelphia PA 3/31/1925, Mother Mary Malley Brennan, Father Paul John Brennan. Oldest of 3 siblings (Alice, Katherine). He graduated from Roman Catholic HS in 1943. He enrolled in the V-12 Marine Corp program during WW2, the objective of which was to generate many officers for the war effort. His assignment was to begin his engineering studies at Northwestern University, and he completed his Electrical Engineering BS degree at Purdue University. He received his Master’s in Engineering at Drexel University. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps March 1946 and from the Reserves Feb 1951. (1st lieutenant). Early in his Engineering career Paul’s manager (and future brother-in-law) set him up on a blind date with Terry; within a year they were married – he didn’t want to let her get away. They had 61+ years together - he was her attentive caregiver for several years before she passed in 2011. Paul’s career with Martin Company in Baltimore MD led to a transfer to Central Florida in 1967; he retired from Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) in 1990. He worked on a variety of programs in the aerospace and defense industries, including Gemini, Pershing, Sprint, and many others. Paul was a devout Catholic – attending daily Mass for many years in his retirement. He was active in prayer and Bible study groups, and supportive of many St Mary Magdalen Parish ministries. He was a reader at Mass, a Eucharist Minister, and a supporter of the Parish adult and child care centers. He was inducted into the Order of St Mary Magdalen many years ago. Paul was a devoted husband and father. He always put Terry and the family first. His greatest joys were gathering with family, and he always spoke of others rather than himself. He always wanted to know what was going on with the kids, our extended families, the grandkids and great grandkids – he was the family news hub and always had all the updates to share. He was incredibly patient and kind. He always saw the best in everyone, and everything. He was very even keeled – and always had a kind word and thoughtful comment. He was so appreciative of any minor assistance, and he expressed his gratitude without fail. Even though he was not considered an extrovert, his pleasant demeanor and positivity made him a hit with all his neighbors, therapists, care givers, and fellow residents in Assisted Living. Paul ALWAYS had others’ best interests at heart. Although he gave advice sparingly, when he did it was always thoughtful and valuable. His life with Terry gave his family an exceptional role model for marriage and parenting. Paul had an exceptionally long life, and was independent (driving until age 96, living on his own until age 99). He recovered from a fall and pelvic fracture in May 2025, working very hard in rehab to regain ambulation and moved into independent / assisted living in July 2024. He enjoyed frequent visits from family throughout the past year. In his final days he had MANY visitors including all his children, and many grand/great grandchildren. Funeral Mass - St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church- Saturday Sept 13, Noon Reception following at The Grove at Trelago, Vista Trelago Way, Maitland 1-4pm.
